Come share the harvest!
2022 UPDATE: We will be taking a break from weekly CSA shares this season. We will certainly continue farming and we will keep our farmstand stocked with all your farm-fresh favorites. And to make it easier for folks to come get our delicious produce, we will once again offer a prepaid Farmstand Credit option. Like a CSA, you pay in advance for the season; unlike CSA, you can choose your produce freely. We will track your balance and send you periodic updates so you will know the status of your credit account. And to sweeten the pot, we’ll add an extra 10% to your credit balance!
If you would like to be on our farmstand email list, or if you are interested in purchasing a prepaid Farmstand Credit, please contact us at greenmanfarm@comcast.net and we’ll send you all the details. Thank you!
CSA (community supported agriculture) is a relationship of mutual support and commitment between farmers and subscribers. With CSA, subscribers pay the farmer in advance and receive a weekly share of the harvest. This allows the farmers to concentrate on what they do best: growing delicious healthy food.
Thru CSA, you are directly supporting small family farms here in our local economy and preserving farm land on Vashon Island. You will receive a wide variety of fresh, nutritious, organic produce grown locally by someone you know. You can talk with the farmer about your food, ask questions about anything, come to the farm and witness where, when, and how you food is being grown. This is not anonymous food ~ this is food that you truly know.
What does it cost? The CSA seasons runs 16 weeks starting in mid-June. The cost is $450, although the actual value of the produce is always significantly more. As a subscriber, you pay for the entire season in advance – either in one payment or two easy installments. Payment can be made via Cash, Check or Venmo.
How does it work? Once we confirm your CSA membership, you’ll decide on your preferred pick up day. Then each week during the season, you come to the farm to pick up a produce box brimming with freshly harvested goodness. In addition, you will receive Jasper’s weekly email newsletter chock full of nutritional info about the veggies, healthy recipes, and suggestions for use of new or unusual vegetables.
What can I expect? We strive to supply our members with a wide variety of seasonal produce; to ensure such diversity, our crops are planted in succession so we can harvest a revolving cornucopia of mixed vegetables. As crops rotate throughout the year, weekly shares vary by size and types of produce, reflecting the seasons and local growing conditions. Typically, each week will include 7 – 10 items. Here is a list of some of the crops we plan to grow this year:
Arugula, Asian Greens, Basil, Pole Beans, Beets, Broccoli, Cabbage, Carrots, Cauliflower, Chard, Sweet Corn, Cucumbers, Eggplant, Kale, Kohlrabi, Leeks, Lettuces, Onions, Snap Peas & Snow Peas, Peppers, Pumpkins, Potatoes, Radishes, Rhubarb, Salad Greens, Spinach, Summer Squash, Winter Squash, Tomatoes, Tomatillos, Turnips, Zucchini.
